Blessed Virgin Mary

Our Mother, Mother of the Lord and Church

Mary is our Model on the way of discipleship. God is not someone who we place on a shelf so to speak, only to bring Him down when we perceive ourselves to be in need. The truth is, we are always in need and He is living within us through our Baptism, having given us in Christ everything we need.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches "The Virgin Mary most perfectly embodies the obedience of faith. By faith Mary welcomes the tidings and promise brought by the angel Gabriel, believing that 'with God, nothing will be impossible' and so giving her assent: 'Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be [done] to me according to your word.'"

The message of Mary is the message of the Gospel, to repent and believe the Good news. The message of Mary is conversion to Her Son by saying "yes" to God's invitation. That is the path to true peace. Her response to the Angel "I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be to me according to your Word" (Luke 1:38), proposes to every man and woman the new way of living called the Christian life.

Join us in learning all about the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Mother, the Mother of the Lord and Church. Students will learn about the details of the life she lived, from the little virgin of Nazareth to the Mother of God and the First Disciple. Together, we will explore how Mary became the Mother of God and the Model for our Faith.

When the Angel of the Lord appeared, bearing the message and calling her to a special mission, she said "YES." We must say "Yes" as well and believe that "nothing is impossible with God." Let's consider her response to the message: "I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be to me according to Your Word." It is in these words that we discover the vocation of every Christian.
