  • No. To become Catholic a person is required to receive the Sacrament of Baptism. After this, a person is considered Catholic, although not fully initiated. Other Sacraments of initiation must be completed later with your participation within a physical parish community.
  • Catholic Online School has several courses that can help you with the process of becoming a confirmed Catholic, but the reception of most Sacraments requires your involvement in a physical parish community. All Sacraments require the involvement of a validly ordained priest.

How do I participate in a 'Live Lesson?'

Enroll in Catholic Online School.

  • Once you are enrolled and logged into the school, find the course with the Live Lesson and enroll in the course.
  • About 15 minutes or so before the Live Lesson begins, log into the school and select your course. Locate the section that says, "Live lesson." Click on this lesson.
  • You will see a black button in the middle of your screen that will usually say "Start Meeting in Zoom." Click this button and you will be welcomed into the lesson when the professor starts the class.

To earn 100% credit for completion in each course:

  • The student must click the continue button through every section of every course and watch 100% of the videos.
  • A student must play 100% of the video from beginning to end. If the video is skipped, or viewed at less than 100%, then credit for that portion of the course will not be registered. A student is required to complete 100% of all lessons, including passing all quizzes to earn a certificate of completion.

Can I make my Confirmation/Reconciliation online?

  • No. Confirmation, Reconciliation, and other sacraments involve participation in your local parish community. Many parishes have additional requirements above and beyond study in order to receive most sacraments. The courses on Catholic Online School are designed to provide a complete academic understanding of these sacraments. They are suitable for use as a complete course of study to help prepare for the reception of a particular sacrament, or they may be used to supplement another course of study.
  • If you seek to learn more about a sacrament or to help prepare for the reception of a sacrament, Catholic Online School is the perfect resource for you. However, the sacraments can only be administered by ordained clergy, usually from your local parish community.
  • Contact your local parish church if you or someone you love wishes to obtain a sacrament.

Can I access Catholic Online School from China, India, or even Iran?

Yes. When you visit Catholic Online School's homepage, everything should function correctly.  We now have students from 193 of the 195 countries worldwide.  All you need is Internet connectivity and a Smart Phone, mobile device and/or Computer.

I'm a teacher. Do I need all my students to sign up for the school or just me?

  • We strongly recommend each student have their own account. This allows you to track individual student progress. (Tracking student progress requires special authorization, so you will need to contact [email protected] with your request.) We also encourage students to have their own accounts so they can explore and learn on their own while outside of the classroom. Students tend to browse and take multiple courses when they have their own account.
  • If you are using just one lesson as a quick, convenient supplement to your instruction then it might not make sense to enroll all your students in the school. You are welcome to use the school's content in your course. However, students who are not enrolled will not be able to download their own study guides, take quizzes, or explore the school on their own.

I want my students to take classes how do I track them?

Teachers interested in getting access to student progress reports will need to contact us at [email protected]. Provide contact information and request a meeting with a staff member. We will discuss your needs to determine the best way to help you track student progress.

The lesson plans are available in each course. To access them, a person needs to enroll in the course and click the lesson that reads: "Study Guide." The Study Guide includes the complete lesson plan, including the video script, quiz questions, and answers.
