The History of Christmas
Unlike many Christian holy days, Christmas was not traditionally celebrated in the earliest days of the Church. This course lays out the rich history of both Advent and Christmas.
Christmas is the day Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is also the name of the 12-day long season in the Liturgical calendar. The Christmas season begins on Christmas Day, December 25, and lasts until the 5th of January. The name Christmas comes from the “Mass of Christ,” or “Christ’s Mass,” in English.

Objective: In this course, students will learn about the history of Christmas and why we celebrate it the way we do today. Students will also learn about the history of Advent and why it is also important.
