Objective: Students will learn about the Catholic Church as the Mystical Body of Christ and the family of God on earth.

They will understand:

• That Jesus founded the Catholic Church to continue His mission of teaching, sanctifying, and guiding all people to Heaven.
• That the Church is built on the Apostles, with the Pope as the successor of Saint Peter and the bishops as successors of the Apostles.
• That the Holy Spirit gives life to the Church and keeps her faithful to Christ’s teachings through the Magisterium.
• That through Baptism, we become members of the Mystical Body of Christ and are united as one family in faith.
• That all baptized Christians share in Christ’s mission as priests, prophets, and kings.
• That bishops, priests, and deacons serve as shepherds who guide us, teach us, and celebrate the Sacraments.
• That the Church includes the faithful on earth, the souls in Purgatory, and the saints in Heaven.
• That our actions affect the whole Body of Christ, and we are called to live holy lives to strengthen the Church.
• That by loving, serving, and evangelizing others, we help build up the Church and grow closer to eternal life with God.
