Objective: Students will learn about the authority Jesus gave to His Church and how it continues today. They will understand:

• That Jesus founded the Catholic Church and entrusted its mission to the Apostles.
• That the Apostles passed their authority to bishops through Apostolic Succession.
• That the pope and bishops are the successors of the Apostles and faithfully lead the Church today.
• That deacons, priests, and bishops serve God's people through the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
• That Jesus chose Saint Peter to lead His Church, and the pope continues Peter's mission as his successor.
• That Christ continues to guide and protect His Church through the Holy Spirit.
• That Catholics are called to respect, pray for, and follow the Church's faithful leaders as they help lead God's people to Heaven.
