Objective: Students will learn about Jesus' perfect obedience to the will of God the Father during the events of His Passion. They will understand:

  • That Jesus entered Jerusalem in humility, fulfilling the prophecy of the promised Messiah.
  • That Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week.
  • That the people welcomed Jesus with palm branches and cries of "Hosanna."
  • That Jesus knew He would suffer, die, and rise again for our salvation.
  • That Jesus willingly accepted the Father's plan to save humanity from sin.
  • That at the Last Supper, Jesus instituted the Eucharist as His true Body and Blood.
  • That Jesus also instituted the priesthood, giving the Apostles the mission to continue celebrating the Eucharist.
  • That Jesus washed the feet of His Apostles as an example of humility and loving service.
  • That Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane and trusted the Father even in His sorrow and suffering.
  • That Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, leading to His arrest.
  • That Jesus freely accepted His Passion without hatred or violence because He came to save the world.
  • That Jesus remained perfectly obedient to the Father, even unto death on the Cross.
  • That Jesus' Death and Resurrection restored us to grace and opened the way to eternal life.
  • That Jesus was innocent, yet willingly suffered for the forgiveness of our sins.
  • That from the Cross, Jesus gave the Blessed Virgin Mary to the Church as our spiritual mother.
  • That we are called to follow Jesus by trusting God, serving others with humility, and faithfully living according to God's will.
