Objective: Students will learn about how Jesus reveals His identity as the Son of God and the promised Messiah, how His works show the power of God, and how the Father makes known who Jesus truly is. They will understand:

  • That Jesus taught about God’s love and revealed that He is the Son of God.
  • That Jesus is the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, truly God and truly man.
  • That the Messiah is the Savior promised by God to His people.
  • That many people expected a powerful earthly king, but Jesus came in humility to save souls.
  • That some people believed in Jesus, while others rejected Him because He did not meet their expectations.
  • That Jesus performed miracles as real signs of God’s power and presence.
  • That miracles are not magic, but works of God that go beyond the laws of nature.
  • That Jesus’ first recorded miracle was turning water into wine at the wedding at Cana.
  • That Jesus healed the sick, cast out demons, and raised the dead.
  • That Jesus performed miracles to help people believe that He is the Son of God.
  • That miracles can still happen today according to God’s will.
  • That Peter, with the help of God the Father, recognized that Jesus is the Son of God.
  • That Jesus gave Simon the name Peter and chose him to lead His Church as the first Pope.
  • That the Transfiguration revealed Jesus’ divine glory to Peter, James, and John.
  • That Jesus was seen speaking with Moses and Elijah, representing the Law and the Prophets.
  • That God the Father declared, “This is my beloved Son; listen to Him.”
  • That the Transfiguration strengthened the Apostles’ faith in Jesus.
  • That Jesus is truly the Messiah, the Son of God, who reveals the Father to us.
  • That we are called to believe in Jesus, listen to Him, and follow Him with faith and trust.
