Objective: Students will learn about Jesus Christ, the perfect sacrifice, and how His saving work continues in the life of the Church through the Holy Mass. They will understand:

• That the people of the Old Testament offered sacrifices to God as acts of worship, love, and obedience.
• That every Old Testament sacrifice included a priest, a victim, and an altar.
• That the sacrifices of the Old Testament prepared God's people for the coming of Jesus Christ.
• That Jesus is the perfect Priest who offered Himself to the Father for our salvation.
• That Jesus is the perfect Victim because He freely gave His life to save us from sin.
• That the Cross is the altar on which Jesus offered the perfect sacrifice once and for all.
• That sin separates us from God and humanity needed a Savior.
• That Jesus is both true God and true man, making His sacrifice sufficient to reconcile us with the Father.
• That through His Passion, Death, and Resurrection, Jesus conquered sin and opened the gates of heaven.
• That Christ's forgiveness is offered especially through the Sacrament of Reconciliation when we repent of our sins.
• That the Holy Mass makes present the one sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross.
• That Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist—His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.
• That Catholics should prepare their hearts to receive Holy Communion with faith, reverence, and freedom from mortal sin.
• That the Mass is the highest act of worship and calls us to unite ourselves with Christ and live as His faithful disciples.
• That Jesus suffered persecution even though He was innocent and always did the Father's will.
• That Christians are called to remain faithful to Jesus with courage, patience, truth, and love, even during suffering.
• That martyrs are faithful witnesses who gave their lives rather than deny Jesus Christ.
• That God gives us the grace to remain faithful to Him throughout our lives and to share His love with the world.
