Objective: Students will learn about the Apostles and how Jesus established His Church to continue His saving mission on earth. They will understand:

• That Jesus chose the Apostles to preach the Gospel and lead His Church.
• That Jesus gave the Apostles the authority to forgive sins through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
• That Christ continues to forgive sins today through the ministry of bishops and priests.
• That the Holy Spirit guides and protects the Church in every age.
• That Jesus chose Saint Peter to be the first Pope and the visible leader of His Church.
• That Peter received the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and the mission to shepherd God's people.
• That the Pope is the successor of Saint Peter through Apostolic Succession.
• That Jesus remained with the Apostles for forty days after His Resurrection before ascending into Heaven.
• That before His Ascension, Jesus commanded the Apostles to preach the Gospel, baptize all nations, and make disciples.
• That every Christian shares in the mission of bringing others to Christ through words and actions.
• That Jesus ascended into Heaven, reigns with the Father, and will come again in glory.
• That Jesus continues to remain with His Church and never abandons His people.
• That Jesus is present in Sacred Scripture, in the Church, in those who suffer, and whenever believers gather in His name.
• That Jesus is truly present—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity—in the Holy Eucharist.
• That through the Church, the Sacraments, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Jesus continues to lead His people to holiness and eternal life.
