Objective: Students will learn about the Holy Family and how Jesus, Mary, and Joseph lived in faithful obedience to God’s plan. They will understand:

  • That the Holy Family is made up of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
  • That Jesus is the Son of God, and Mary and Joseph were chosen by God for a special mission.
  • That King Herod sought to kill Jesus out of fear and jealousy.
  • That God protected the Holy Family by sending an angel to warn Saint Joseph.
  • That Saint Joseph trusted God and obediently led Mary and Jesus safely to Egypt.
  • That the Holy Family returned to Nazareth after it was safe to do so.
  • That Jesus spent His hidden life in Nazareth, growing in wisdom, age, and grace.
  • That Jesus obeyed Mary and Joseph and shared in the ordinary work and life of the family.
  • That Jesus is both true God and true man.
  • That when Jesus was twelve years old, He was found teaching in the Temple after Mary and Joseph searched for Him.
  • That Jesus revealed God as His true Father while continuing to honor and obey Mary and Joseph.
  • That the Holy Family is the perfect model for every Christian family.
  • That every member of a family has responsibilities and is called to serve one another with love.
  • That children are called to obey their parents, help their families, and grow in faith.
  • That Christian families should place God at the center of their lives through prayer, Scripture, and participation in the Mass.
  • That we are called to follow the example of the Holy Family by living lives of faith, obedience, love, and trust in God.
