Objective: Students will learn about how Jesus prepared for His mission, proclaimed the Good News of salvation, and chose the Apostles to continue His work. They will understand:

  • That Jesus began His public ministry at about thirty years old.
  • That John the Baptist was sent by God to prepare the people for the coming of the Savior.
  • That Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River, even though He is without sin.
  • That the Holy Trinity was revealed at Jesus’ Baptism.
  • That Jesus spent forty days in the desert praying and fasting.
  • That Jesus was tempted by Satan but remained faithful and obedient to God.
  • That Jesus teaches us to trust God and resist temptation.
  • That the Gospel means the Good News of Jesus Christ.
  • That sin separated humanity from God since the time of Adam and Eve.
  • That Jesus came to forgive sins and open the gates of Heaven.
  • That the Kingdom of God is at hand and we are invited to be part of it.
  • That Jesus used parables to teach about God and His Kingdom.
  • That the Gospels contain the life and teachings of Jesus.
  • That Jesus chose twelve Apostles to follow Him and continue His mission.
  • That the Apostles learned from Jesus and helped spread the Good News.
  • That the Apostles continued Jesus’ work after His Resurrection and Ascension.
  • That Saint Paul joined in the mission and wrote letters to the early Church.
  • That the Apostles passed on their authority through Apostolic Succession.
  • That the Church continues the mission of the Apostles today.
  • That we are called to follow Jesus and share the Good News with others.
