Objective:  St. Philip's Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization presents - The Way of Christ faith formation program. The Way of Christ introduces students to the fundamental teachings of the Catholic Church, the basics of what Catholics believe and how Catholics should live. It contains answers to common questions about Catholic beliefs and practices. By reading through these lessons, the reader will come to know this simple and profound faith, the faith taught by Jesus Christ and handed down in the one Church He established.

The Way of Christ: Student's Book, is graciously included as a FREE downloadable PDF in this course, thanks to the generosity of Bishop Joseph E. Strickland, of the Diocese of Tyler, Texas. This deeply informative 95-page book is intended to be used in a variety of ways. It may be read as part of a personal study of Catholicism. It can refresh the knowledge of practicing Catholics. And it can reintroduce the Catholic faith to someone who has been away from the Church for some time.

Dr. Pat Gabriel was formally trained by Dominicans in Denver Colorado. Dr. Gabriel holds a PhD. in Systematic Theology. He holds a Masters degree in Scripture and a Masters degree in Pastoral Theology from the Augustine Institute in Denver. He also has a Master of Science degree in mathematics. His Bachelors is in Education. Dr. Gabriel has taught Scripture and the Catechism for the Denver Catholic Biblical School. He is also a Professional Mathematics Teacher for all Secondary Mathematics courses. He is Married to his Bride Lou Ellen. They live in Grand Junction, Colorado. They are the parents of 6 children.

Dr. Stacy Trasancos is a convert to Catholicism and a nationally-recognized author, speaker, and educator on the topic of theology and science. She has a PhD in chemistry and an MA in dogmatic theology. She is a teaching fellow for Bishop Robert Barron’s new Word on Fire Institute and regularly appears on Catholic Answers Live to answer questions about faith and science. She is the author of three books: Particles of Faith, Science Was Born of Christianity, and 20 Answers: Bioethics. Her work was featured in Forbes, and she has written numerous articles for publications such as National Catholic Register, St. Austin’s Review, and Catholic World Report. She has appeared on Catholic radio shows, including SiriusXM’s The Jennifer Fulwiler Show and Busted Halo with Fr. Dave Dwyer. Dr. Trasancos teaches online theology courses for Seton Hall University’s Catholic Studies program. She and her family moved from the Adirondacks of upstate New York to East Texas last year–a coming home to her birthplace–and now she is the Executive Director for the St. Philip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization founded by Bishop Joseph Strickland in the Diocese of Tyler, Texas.

She is a mother of seven and wife to her dear husband, Jose. They enjoy their life together in Hideaway, Texas.

Fr. Joshua Neu is the Director of Faith Formation of the St. Philip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization. Ordained on June 27, 2018, Fr. Neu is a priest of the Diocese of Tyler. After completing a B.A. in Philosophy at the University of Dallas, he entered formation for the priesthood. Fr. Neu studied theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University and then went on to complete a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture (S.S.L.) at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. In addition to his love of Sacred Scripture, Fr. Neu has particular interests in the Sacred Liturgy, Historical Theology, and Linguistics. Fr. Neu is currently the Director of Faith Formation in the St. Philip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization, as well as the Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Tyler.

Fr. Braun is the Director of Youth Formation for the St Phillip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization. Braun received his Masters of Divinity and STB from the Pontifical College Josephinum, and was ordained on June 9, 2012, by Bishop Alvaro Corrada del Rio. He has served the Diocese of Tyler as parochial vicar at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for three years, while also working as Chaplain to Bishop Gorman Catholic School, and beginning in 2013 as Director of Vocations. In the fall of 2015 he left his work at the Cathedral and began doing Chaplaincy work at St. Mary's Campus Ministry at Stephen F. Austin University and then at the University of Texas at Tyler. In January 2018, Fr. Braun was assigned as parochial vicar of Sacred Heart parish in Texarkana, Texas and was assigned as Director of Youth Formation for the St. Philip Institute in June of 2018. Fr. Braun has the great joy of being an uncle to 9 wonderful nephews and nieces, a great-nephew, and occasionally plays the drums for fun and hits the golf ball. He's worked with youth ministry since his days as a student in Longview, TX some 20 years ago, and he's very excited to serve the youth and help them get to heaven.

Mikki Sciba is the Seasons of Infancy and Initiation Specialist for the St. Philip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization in the Diocese of Tyler. She develops and implements creative methods for evangelizing and catechizing children between the ages of 0-12 years. This includes sacramental preparation for Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation, and Communion. Her efforts also include integrating the children’s catechesis into opportunities for continued formation of adults and families. Along with her husband, Matthew, she coordinates the special needs ministry for the Diocese of Tyler. Mikki graduated from Benedictine College in 2005 with a B.A. in Religious Studies, Youth Ministry, and Philosophy. Mikki and her husband live in Tyler with their three children.
