What is RCIA?

The 'Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults'  (RCIA) is also known as the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). It is how adults become members of the Roman Catholic Church.

To become a Catholic, you must join your parish RCIA program to learn about the Catholic faith. Regular attendance at Mass and in-person classes at church will be part of your program, along with prayer and study.

If you are interested in becoming a Catholic, you should speak to your parish priest before starting these courses.

When you complete each course in the program, you will earn a Certificate of Completion that you may download and print to share your accomplishment.

Everyone is welcome to take these courses. Even if you are not Christian, or Catholic, if you just want to learn more about the faith, you are invited to enroll in these courses and complete them at your own pace.

There are two programs below. RCIA - For Adults with 'Certificate of Completion' is for anyone wishing to become Catholic or learn more about the Catholic faith.

RCIA - For Catechists with 'Certificate of Completion' is for those who teach RCIA classes to others. This program will prepare you as a catechist to use this program to teach your catechumens.
